Last week I did something that felt strangely nostalgic -
I logged back into my old Facebook page that I hadn’t touched in nearly two years and started deleting videos from my prior affiliate-marketing experiment.
Each clip was a time capsule - a record of me trying to change my life in real time. I spent about 8 months showing up on social media with shaky confidence and big hopes, testing whether affiliate marketing might be the answer.
What I didn’t know then was that those posts were documenting something far bigger than a business model. They were chronicling how God teaches obedience through experimentation.
Because sometimes, the experiment isn’t the point.
The becoming is.
When Everything Familiar Stopped Working
After leaving corporate America during COVID, my life looked nothing like it had before. I spent three years diving headfirst into architectural design and sustainable building.
It felt like redemption - finally pursuing a long-held passion and giving myself permission to do something creative after years of structure, deadlines, and stress that were quietly killing my spirit.
I learned design software, created hundreds of floor plans, got certified as a Passive House builder - and for the first time in forever, I felt alive again.
But one by one, every project fell apart.
At first, I was crushed. I thought I had finally found my path.
But God kept closing doors faster than I could open them.
When I zoomed out, the data told the truth: the business wasn’t scalable.
Our local population was small, the labor shortage was real, and even success would mean we’d still be trading time for money; so no matter how passionate I was, I could see the walls closing in.
Those realizations made me ripe for the messaging around online businesses, and that’s when I began exploring the world of digital entrepreneurship - and the promise that maybe, just maybe, there was a way to create something that could run while I slept.
Now, to be clear: passive income is a lie.
But automated systems that deliver value 24/7?
That’s real.
And that’s what drew me in - the idea that I could build something meaningful, ethical, and scalable without burning myself out again.
So I did what I always do when I feel God stirring something new:
I started learning.
The Lessons Hidden in the Process
Affiliate marketing, as I suspected, and quickly confirmed, is not ‘easy money.’
It’s a full-time job in digital marketing - for someone else’s products - and if you don’t believe in what you’re promoting, you’ll feel that misalignment deep in your bones.
Still, I learned a ton.
Email marketing → SEO → Meta Algorithms → Pinterest → FTC compliance → Legal requirements → Website creation → Product funnels → Launch strategy, the list goes on…
These are legitimate skills and I went from managing e-commerce teams doing this work, to doing it all myself.
It was exhilarating… and exhausting.
But the hardest part wasn’t the workload. It was the exposure.
I was terrified to post those videos. My chest would tighten before every upload. The anxiety was real.
I knew people were watching - people who knew me as smart, strategic, composed. I was risking my reputation in real time.
And yet, I did it anyway.
Looking back I’m proud of that version of me - the one who chose courage over comfort.
Those posts weren’t just proof of my drive and determination, they were also acts of defiance against my fear of failing publicly.
That season taught me that integrity isn’t theoretical - it’s tested.
I saw firsthand the ‘bro marketing’ world I wanted no part of.
Manipulative tactics 👎🏻 False scarcity 👎🏻 Empty hype 👎🏻
But inside one of those programs God slipped me something incredible: a course on mindset work.
And that one seed changed everything.
When God Reframes the Lesson
The irony was thick - mindset training inside a program built on sensationalism.
But the question that hooked me was legitimate:
What’s really holding you back in life?
It was presented in secular language, but the science was sound, and the truth underneath it was spiritually profound and grounded in neuroscience that explained what faith had always taught:
Transformation begins in the renewal of the mind.
Through that training I discovered a structured self-reflection process that reveals what actually drives human behavior and how your priorities shape your reactions, relationships, and results.
And for me, that revelation was electric AND it was a proven, repeatable process that is powerful!
Right there in the middle of learning how to ‘sell’ someone else’s products was a personal development goldmine that, for someone who has always been in pursuit of self-improvement, touched a nerve.
Here I was, already buffering my cringe videos with posts I actually cared about - mindset, reframing challenges, and finding purpose in the hard stuff God allows, not realizing it would become the catalyst for my calling.
And so I kept learning…
Learning from the Right Mentors
Immersing myself in the online education space exposed both extremes - shallow self-proclaimed gurus and genuine pioneers.
I invested in a lot of programs. Some offered little more than recycled hype.
But a few - most notably the creators behind The Roadmap Rebellion and Renegade AI - were the real deal.
They weren’t selling shortcuts. They weren’t teaching hype.
They were publicly pioneering new approaches to digital entrepreneurship and teaching people how to start real businesses with systems, ethics, creativity, and resilience.
They were disruptors in an industry that thrives on half-truths and they paid the price publicly.
Watching how they handled criticism with transparency, humility and grace taught me what it looks like to lead through experimentation and handle both breakthrough and backlash with integrity.
They modeled the kind of ethical entrepreneurship that aligned with my faith and values - proof that you can build with both excellence and honesty.
Ironically, I might never have found them if I hadn’t joined that first affiliate-marketing program.
God used one imperfect door to redirect me toward people who embodied the integrity I was seeking - proof that obedience in exploration is never wasted.
And the wildest part?
They are the ones who taught me my AI skills.
What started as a curiosity about ‘passive systems’ turned into a revelation of how AI could become a tool for spiritual formation and personal growth - not a threat to it.
Because as these pieces were starting to come together, I also saw a gap.
There was powerful neuroscience on one side, and a skeptical faith community on the other, and then God gave me a clear assignment:
Be the bridge.
So that’s what I did.
I became a trained facilitator of a proven method, and then I developed my own faith-infused adaptation of that method.
Now I help people renew their minds, heal emotional patterns, and align their lives with their God-given purpose - all using the brain He designed.
This really proves that God can use anything for good…
Even affiliate marketing.
What God Taught Me About Risk
So here I am now, on my 50th birthday, looking back at every winding path - corporate strategy, passive house design, affiliate marketing, digital entrepreneurship - and realizing none of it was wasted, and the common denominator in all of them was God’s patience.
He wasn’t asking for me to perform.
He was teaching me to trust Him and the process.
Through every closed door, he was loosening my grip on outcomes and inviting me to walk by faith instead of metrics.
He used my experiments to build endurance.
He used my curiosity to build courage.
He used my ‘failures’ to build discernment.
And in the end, he showed me that clarity doesn’t come from control - it comes from surrender and an openness to evolve, and pivot when necessary.
Today, I have a faith-powered PURPOSE™ Framework that blends neuroscience, mindset work, and AI-driven tools to help others find their purpose - the very synthesis of everything that once appeared random and the antithesis of an unscalable architectural design endeavor…
I mean come on… God led me to developing AI skills + a proven mindset renewal process to help others - it’s as if He knew what was going to be future-proof and scalable all along! 😂
So if you’re standing where I once stood - staring at a closed door, wondering if God’s still listening - let me offer you this:
He is.
He’s just developing and redirecting you.
You don’t have to get it perfect.
You just have to get moving.
Try things. Learn things.
Let Him show you what’s possible when curiosity meets prayer, and courage meets discernment.
Because when you take risks with a prayerful posture, God always has your back - even when things look like they’re going off the rails.
One thing is for sure though, He doesn’t want you to settle for an uninspired life of survival and striving.
