What is Freelance Digital Marketing?
In a nutshell Freelance Digital Marketing is simply using the internet to promote a product or service and you get paid for doing so. Now, the cool thing is that the product could be yours, but it doesn’t have to be!
Affiliate Marketing
is a subset of Digital Marketing, and it’s all about promoting someone else’s product or service and getting paid a commission for bringing that company a customer / sale.
Both are tried and true strategies that have been around since the dawn of business, and now it’s easier than ever because of the ‘digital’ part. While the methods have changed over the centuries the model itself has stood the test of time.
However, there’s no longer a need for expensive TV commercials, billboards, radio ads, door to door sales, or Multi-Level Marketing, etc... to connect people with valuable products and services that solve their problems. Now you can post on the inter-webs from your home - or the beach! 😉
So what about the ‘Freelance’ part?
Digital Marketing Agencies
Well, you’ve probably already connected the dots here... but nearly every company on the planet now uses Digital Marketing because it’s the 21st Century and people use the internet and Social Media platforms for pretty much everything - especially shopping!! So if a company isn’t using Digital Marketing they are on their way out of business because they haven’t kept up with the times.
I spent about half of my career working in e-commerce as a Program/Client manager standing up websites and back-end support systems so that companies could sell their products online. Some of those projects took years and cost anywhere from $1M-$5M+ and we had huge teams of people working together to make it all happen.
Lots of specialized skills were needed - like - Website Designers, Software Developers, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Consultants, Marketing Agencies, Copywriters, Social Media Strategists/Managers, and more... but here’s the deal, some companies had these disciplines covered by in-house employees, and others hired... guess what??
Digital Marketing Agencies!! Yes, there are entire companies that exist solely so that product and service companies can outsource that work to them vs hiring multiple departments worth of employees. So this is a GROWING industry, not a fleeting get rich quick scheme.
Digital Marketing as a Freelancer
Being a ‘Freelance Digital Marketer’ simply means you work for yourself and you can choose to only serve yourself OR you could obtain these skills and then market yourself to a company and get a job. I maintain that the income potential is higher as a freelancer, but the point is the same - your skills will be HIGHLY sought after and are thus worth the investment!
I say all of this to point out that this is a legitimate career path and you actually already know what it is because you’ve experienced it as a consumer. Marketing has been around for hundreds of years in various forms, and will continue for hundreds to come. This isn’t a fad - it’s just leveraging current technology to evolve our methods, and you know what happens if you don’t evolve... ;)
So I chose Freelance Digital Marketing for several reasons:
Finding Customers
Freelance Digital Marketers focus on the most critical business skill of all. Getting customers.
If you master that skill, you’ll be set free for life. Think about the advantage that gives you over everyone else in business. The number one thing that kills businesses is they suck at getting customers.
Now if you’re already scared because you’re thinking - OMG, I am NOT a salesperson. I’ve never done sales. I don’t know how to do it. I’m not sure I WANT to do it... then you’re in good company - because I felt the SAME way!
I still do honestly, but once I realized that I already ‘sell’ that was a revelation! You see...

That's all it takes!
And if you’re afraid you don’t have the ‘technical’ skills then fear not! I didn’t either. Earlier I said I MANAGED the projects, I wasn’t one of the technical experts, and you don’t have to be either.
The beauty of this business is that it’s super beginner friendly and the courses I have teach you everything you need to know. Trust me, people a lot less talented than you are making money, which means you’d just be leaving it on the table... sooo... don’t do that!
If you dedicate yourself to learning the skills, you will be successful too. This system works whether you want to build a business around your passion, or just create a second income with affiliate offers - it’s very flexible and scalable.
